Minot airman dies in canoe mishap

MINOT, N.D. — An airman with the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot Air Force Base died in a canoeing accident over the weekend.

Base officials said Tech Sgt. Jason Mower died Saturday when the canoe he was in overturned on Lake Metigoshe. Another airman in the canoe surfaced, but Mower did not. His body was recovered Sunday morning.

Mower had been in the Air Force for 11 years and had been stationed at the Minot base since 2010.
