Firings: 2011-13
The commanding officer and command master chief of a deployed Reserve Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron were fired today, and both were cited for "unprofessional behavior," a Navy spokeswoman confirmed.
Capt. David Hunter and Operations Specialist Master Chief Gregory Krumholz were leading sailors with Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron 12, Coastal Riverine Group 2, presently in the United Arab Emirates, said Lt. Cmdr. Charity Hardison, spokeswoman for Navy Expeditionary Combat Command
In addition to unprofessional behavior, Hunter also mismanaged personnel matters, Hardison said. Capt. Erich Diehl, the deputy commander of Coastal Riverine Group 2, will take over temporarily as CO.
Master Chief Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician Jeff Barnes will temporarily serve as CMC. A permanent replacement has not yet been identified.
An investigation into the CO and CMC's actions is ongoing.
MSRON 12 is based in Williamsburg, Va.
Neither Hunter nor Krumholz immediately responded to emailed requests for comment.
