RIVERHEAD, N.Y. — A convicted burglar on parole is accused of setting fire to the home of an Air National Guard reservist serving overseas.
The Suffolk District Attorney's office said Harry Fleischmann Jr. faces arraignment on a grand jury indictment Tuesday.
DA Thomas Spota said Fleischmann is accused of setting a fire Dec. 27 in the East Patchogue home of Eric Carver.
Carver is on active duty in Africa.
Spota alleged that Fleischmann ransacked Carver's house and stole his SUV, off-duty handgun, holster, ammunition and generator. He alleged that Fleischmann then poured gas and set it on fire.
Spota said the 33-year-old's criminal record dates to 1996. He was linked to several commercial burglaries in Suffolk County earlier this month and last year.
Information on Fleischmann's lawyer wasn't immediately available.
