ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. — The Air Force has named a new installation commander for Robins Air Force Base.
Base officials in middle Georgia said Thursday that Col. Christopher Hill will be the next 78th Air Base Wing and installation commander. Hill currently works as deputy commander for maintenance at the base's Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex. A career maintenance and munitions officer, Hill has held leadership positions in five commands supporting airlift, special operations and special mission aircraft.
Hill will succeed Col. Mitchel Butikofer, installation commander at Robins for the past 18 months. Base officials say Butikofer has yet to receive his next assignment and is not expected to transfer until summer.
Robins Air Force Base, which spans more than 8,700 acres, is the largest industrial complex in Georgia.
