My name is Rylee, and I am 8 years old. I have a 2-year-old brother named Logan, who acts like a 4-year-old. I have a mom named Joy and a dad named George. They are the best parents in the world. My dad is in the Army. I also have a cat named McDuffee. Logan has moved once. When we move to Hawaii this December, it will be my sixth duty station. I also have a pet shrimp, and I will have to give him to my grandma when we move to Hawaii.

My dad goes to foreign countries a lot. I feel sad when he goes. My brother doesn't understand when he leaves, but I do. I understand that he goes to help people who are being hurt by bad guys. When my dad leaves, it's like having a missing piece to a puzzle. When he comes home, you can see the full picture again.

Whenever a new kid comes to my school, I try to make them feel welcome because sometimes I am the new kid. My closest friend that I have ever had is named Mary. She lives here, and I will have to move away from her. It makes me feel sad, and it makes my mom cry because I have a good teacher and good friends here that I will have to leave.

My dad missed Logan's birth. He will miss my birthday this year. He has missed lots of my birthdays. I like and don't like being an Army kid. I don't like having to leave my school and friends, and I don't know anybody when I go to the new place. I like it because I get to live places that other people may not get the chance to live, and I get to explore new things and cultures. I am proud of my dad, and mom says that she is proud of me.
