Enlisted airmen hoping for an overseas assignment in 2013 must make their preferences known by Nov. 1.
The Air Force personnel center will release the enlisted quarterly assignment listing, or EQUAL, on Monday for the July to September 2013 overseas assignment cycle and are pushing up the dates for airmen to make their preferences known.
AFPC is using an accelerated timeline in preparation for a temporary shutdown of the military personal data system, or MilPDS, in December. The system, which is the primary records database for personnel data and pay actions, could be down for as many as 23 days.
Michael Kiel, the center's integrated assignment, applications and training chief said in a press release that airmen who don't make their preferences known by Nov. 1 will not be considered volunteers for the advertised assignments on the list. Airmen will be notified of their assignments selections by Nov. 16.
Upcoming overseas assignments will be on the EQUAL by Air Force Specialty Code and rank. Airmen should base their preferences on the listed assignments and they should update them using the military personnel flight application on the myPers website. Active-duty airmen on temporary duty should contact their nearest personnel support office for help.
